Four ways gender stereotypes could negatively affect young females when choosing careers:

  2. Low confidence in certain jobs
    Stereotypes that say men are better at technical or leadership jobs can make girls doubt their own skills. This may stop them from trying jobs in fields where men are more common.
  3. Believing they will earn less
    There is a stereotype that women are paid less than men for the same work. This can make girls think they won’t be rewarded fairly and may stop them from aiming for higher-paying jobs.
  4. Fewer chances to be leaders
